E-TRENDS FLY For a Healthier Commute
Hurrah, we finally have a roadmap for easing out of lockdown. While many of us can look forward to returning to the office come summer time, the question of a safer and healthier commute is not too far away either.
In fact, bike sales increased 63% during 2020 lockdown, with many turning to pedal power as an alternative and new way to commute, especially in lieu of underground and trains given the risk of COVID in small, unventilated spaces.
With so many options out there, how can you find the right one? Editors Beauty road tested the E Trends Fly Bike, a folding electric bike, to see if it is the right answer for the eco-minded city rider.
So what is an E-Bike? An electric bike is more or less the same as a normal traditional bike, with the added benefit of have a motor to assist with your progress making cycling more accessible and easier to ride.
The E Trends’ 250 w motor system is easy enough to use, controlled with a switch on the handle bar and kicking in soon as you start peddling, with a single speed assistance ensuring you move off swiftly and smoothly. It has an official range of 19 miles on a fully charged battery, and coupled with the fact it is a folding bike, makes it all the more appealing.
What we love:
Prices at £699.99, it is a lot more affordable in comparison to a lot of folding and electric bikes out there
The bike folds conveniently and quickly, making it easy to both pack away and transport around the city.
The addition of a motor really does aid in covering a distance with minimal effort. It helps push you faster and longer, helping you to cycle without breaking out in sweat (always a plus if cycling to the office).
A strong sturdy frame to give every little of confidence when cycling - particularly important for a folding bike(!)
Comfortable seat, making it easy to cover a distance without aches and pains leaving you disheartened to get on the bike again.
Minimal assembly, making it easier for you to take the bike out of the frame and hit the road in under 20 minutes.
Adjustable saddle, meaning it has a good fit for a range of riders, and can accommodate riders weighing up to 20kg thanks to its sturdy frame.
While a touch on the heavier side of folding bikes (weighing nearly 30kg), the easy to charge battery as well as the sturdy frame makes up for it. However, If using as your commute to and from work, we suggest connecting the bike to a charging point so its all ready for your commute back home.
For anyone looking for a bike to pop to the shops, see your friends or have a relatively easy commute to and from work, and/or short on space, we highly recommend the E Trend Fly Bike.
