Low Key Make Up Products for Everyday Looks
I miss the ritual of wearing make up everyday; of choosing a lip shade to suit my mood - hello Ruby Woo, hello Anastasia Beverly Hills and Marc Jacobs. Make up would elevate me, would boost me and was for me. I felt like I was ready to meet the world - my armour and my source of creativity. While my skin has thanked a little breather from it all, I just miss it.
Throughout the last year, I’ve asked myself a lot of questions about make up. Number one? Was there any point wearing it at all if you won’t see anyone? And of course the big one: With the pandemic, the lethargy, low energy, and those hero’s who have been homeschooling - well, did you really want to add another thing to your list? It’s hard!
But one day, I decided to have a little rummage around my make up wardrobe for products to give me an oomph while being resolutely low key. And what a different it made! Read my suggestion for no make up make up. Products to enhance your natural beauty and to feel all the more done up on any given day with minimal effort.
Create the perfect canvas using the Cerave Facial Moisturising Lotion. This product has done wonders for my sensitive skin, helping to repair its barrier and simply keeping it in check. Desert Island must have.
This non tinted skin hero is my new at-home-zoom-friendly-go-to-product. I’ve lately been looking worse for wear thanks to back to back projects, and the Erborian Skin Hero is the perfect cream like product to smooth the skin out and add some life. I enjoy putting this one with the Artis no make up brush, just for extra fanciness because we can all do with some of that now.
The creamy blend lends itself to an oh so beautifully buffed and melt-on-your skin coverage. This versatile product can easily be built up, but a little dab is perfect for a soft and everyday look. I also enjoy using any left over concealer from my finger or brush to cover any scaring/spots.
Like most things recommended here, a little goes a long way. Just one or two drops of the NARS Liquid Blush is enough to add a dewy and pinched-cheek look of perfection. You can’t really go wrong with the placement of this on the cheek either, so I find it much easier to use than conventional powder blushes. I love to blend it in using the Elf Buffing Foundation Brush for a seamless look.
I love lipsticks and glosses, but with face mask, it is also highly impractical. So, how to compromise? Well anything from Eve Lom is hardly a compromise, but the Kiss Mix is the perfect lip balm with enough colour to make a bit of difference to that day and final finale of flush to your daily make up-no make up look.
Okay, this is a total nice to have, but also a good to have if you love extensions but haven’t managed to get your full thanks to back to back lockdowns. The Wispie Wing Lash is a great natural flutter of stick on lashes. I wore them during a lockdown valentines, and I love it!
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Promade is no new-news, but what a lifesaver it has been! If you’ve either made a hash job of your brows through over plucking whilst saloons are closed or missing any other brow treatments, the Dip Brow is the perfect go to. Little goes a long way, so just tap in your brow brush for a more everyday look and save the rest for later on this year when lockdown lifts!
