Radiant Motherhood: Embracing Self-Care for a Healthier You

Motherhood is all about love, challenges, and infinite tasks. Mothers often forgo their well-being to care for a family. But, self-care is not just required for the sake of a mother's well-being but also to be able to care effectively for those we love!

1) Why You Should Put Yourself First — Literally:

Most think of self-care as an indulgence, but for moms, it is a practice one must engage in. A long-overdue meeting that supports physical and mental well-being or being alone with oneself without any external distractions helps you too much at all levels. 

Putting yourself first is understanding that your well-being should be equal in importance to the well-being of anyone else you serve. Keeping things updated such as dentists, doctors, and gynecologist appointments. This is true for physical activities like structured exercise, but also solo leisure time where you spend some alone free moments in the lines of a paper page or creative expression.

2) Taking Care of Your Mind and Soul:

Motherhood takes its toll on our hearts often, so it is even more important to take care of your mental and emotional health. Children need to name their feelings and understand that coping with stress through mindfulness, meditation or journaling can benefit them greatly in maintaining a positive mindset. 

It is also important to realize when you do need a break and allow yourself time to take those breaks without the feeling of guilt/someone constantly looking over your shoulder. If you are struggling, be sure to seek support from friends, family members, or a therapist. Before you sign off by saying caring for your mental health is weak, it's not, 

3) Supportive Culture:

A big part of self-care is setting up your world as a place that nurtures you. Spend time with those who support you and have a similar belief system. It is necessary to be open about your needs with both yourself and /or if you are in a relationship; Your partner or even family members etc. For example, in case you want time to run or meditate, chat approximately the way a circle of relatives obligations could be divided to provide that vacant slot. 

In conclusion, the message of radiant motherhood is much bigger than being an act of caring for others, it goes to embrace self-care as a foundation stone on this journey through life. You become a grounded mother who can protect her family when you consciously show up for yourself first and stand behind your physical/mental/emotional needs. Keep in mind, self-care is not selfish but a requirement and by making time to care for yourself you are modeling positive behavior for your kids.
