Massaging your Way to Wellness.

Massaging your Way to Wellness.

Our Deputy Editor, Sofia, reviews the latest at home beauty wellness site.

I’m a sucker for a good massage. It’s one the ways I help support my body and wellness, and maintaining my self-care. Naturally, alongside other things, when lockdown came knocking early 2020, I was in a pickle. I just couldn’t access my go to way of supporting my health. And my body suffered. A lot.

However when lockdown restrictions lifted, I found myself in the same position, this time somewhat inverted: I could go for a massage, but at what cost? What is the level of risk? That is not to say that going for beauty treatments is bad during this time - definitely not, especially as the beauty industry has taken such a hit during the pandemic. No. These are my personal questions and worry. The only compromise I could think to keep my anxiety at bay was to book a massage at home.

Working with some of the city’s best professionals the Urban platform has a treatment for every need

I’ve had some bad experience in the past with home massages. Nothing sinister, just sub par massages with premium at home prices; something definitely a no-no for anyone, but definitly a massive no-no for me considering how hard I am to please.

But, like I said, a compromise was needed. Luckily just around this time, I found a new lifestyle app and website, Urban. Widely available across London, the platform offers a range of services delivered straight to your doorstep including: massage, fitness, beauty and physiotherapy all curated and designed to put the customer first.

Working with some of the city’s best professionals the platform has a treatment for every need, Urban’s most popular massage treatments include the Urban Classic, a great introduction to the world of Urban, designed to refresh and rejuvenate or the Deep Tissue massage, perfect for those pesky problem areas!

I went for the Urban Classic and booked for one workday after 5pm. The therapist arrived promptly and was welcoming, even though I was welcoming her in to my home. Non pretentious, no huff huff or complaining. She actually, surprisingly, managed to create the spa like feel at home, just through her demeanour, personality and welcoming ‘aura’. This is important, as it adds to the whole relaxation phase of readying oneself for a massage. Tick tick.

The massage itself, well, where do I start? My therapist managed to target every knot and ache I had. In my opinion, a good massage is bespoke in that, while they techniques are the same, the masseuse will target each area with the care it needs, manipulation it requires and the thought of alleviating that pain in that area.  This is quite an important factor for me, and as the time went on, felt myself relaxing more and more.

Urban have done well impressing this hard to please customer, and I’m sure they would be happy to know they have one new repeat customer incoming.

Sofia received a 60 minute Urban Classic massage, from £65
