Once upon a time you may have been disappointed with the answer. However with more and more of us looking for alternatives to boost our pout, the beauty elves have been hard at work and now there are now a number of solutions that just may give filler a run for its money.
To rule out any false claims (because lets be honest, that are a lot out there), we’ve spent the last year working as human guinea pigs, testing every new needle-free product and treatment claiming to give you a fuller pout.

with Lumenis ResurFX
Gaining traction as the Laser Lip Lift, the Lumenis ResurFX works on multiple levels, resurfacing the lip's surface to make them look smoother whilst penetrating deep into the dermis, for a plumper looking pout.
Concerned about barcode lines above your top lip? No to worry. The Lumenis ResurFX also works on the area around the lips, for a more youthful rejuvenated appearance overall.
Professor and Lumenis Practitioner, Ramia Mokbel, regulalry reccomends the treatment over fillers, preferring the results long term. HOW DOE THE Lumenis ResurFX WORK?
ResurFx by Lumenis is a state of the art ‘non-ablative’ laser, which means it does not cause any damage to the outer layers of skin, such a peeling or crusting. Instead, it works by delivering laser energy to the deeper layers of dermis to stimulate collagen productions for beautifully rejuvenated lips.
Ideal for the very sensitive skin on the lips, thanks to it’s non-ablative nature, The ResurFx has minimal, downtime and recovery, with results improving over a six week period as new collagen is created.
WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE
It may be minimally invasive but the Laser Lip Lift still requires 45 minutes of pretreatment numbing. Don’t worry, this does’t involve any needles, just a mere application of some numbing cream and a little hanging around.
On the flip side, the treatment itself takes just a fraction of the numbing time. In fact the ResurFx Laser Lip Lift is so swift that it leaves you wondering how a treatment could possibly work in such a short period of time. A quick peak in the mirror ends any uncertainty, as I am faced with a noticeably more plump pout with a hint of rouge.
Moving on to pain levels. As is standard with many aesthetics treatments, we started light and amped it up on my second visit. First time round, the experienced (thanks to the help of the numbing cream) was 100% painless with no down time. However as the treatments levels went up a notch, down went the comfort level. Unlike the first time, second time round, I also experienced a feeling of mild sunburn but this subsided after a few days.
DID THE LIP LIFT GIVE US FULLER LOOKING LIPS?
It’s important to remember that the Lip Lift is a collagen-stimulating procedure that rejuvenates lips, which means you are not going to get instant results like you would with lip fillers. The initial results are very subtle, as the results are accumulative and it can take between six weeks and three months to stimulating collagen. You will also need a minimum of two treatments to get the results you want.
That being said, I will always choose cellular rejuvenation and the natural movement that comes with it, if given the option. After just two sessions of the Lumenis ResurFX, the skin on my lips looks visibly more hydrated, while the youthful volume has also been restored.
A quick fix it might not be but the results are well worth the weight.

Dr Rita Rakus may be famed for her amazing lip plumping results using filler, yet even the Queen of lips is looking elsewhere for pout boosting results.
"In some cases, it is better to stimulate the tissue because filler can sometimes not look as natural” explains Dr Rakus.
As with Lumenis ResurFX, the ProDeep laser can be used for facial rejuvenation, pigmentation, and scarring, however one of Dr. Rakus’ favourite areas to us it on is the lips. Effectively volumising and enhancing the lips, it can also improve the colour and overall structure of your lips, as well as target those dreaded “smokers lines” with little or no recovery time.
HOW DOE THE PRODEEP WORK?
As with other collagen boosters, the ProDeep enlist beams of laser light to target the sub-dermal layers of tissue to stimulates collagen. By targeting the deeper layer of the skin at depth it can effectively reduces mild to moderate wrinkles and plump the lips.
An average of two treatments are recommend, each spread 3 month apart, however some may require more depending on your desired results.
WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE
No numbing necessary, the treatment simply involves putting on a pair of googles and laying back while the practitioner glides a warm laser over your lips.

WHAT DID WE THINK
ProDeep is a great option for those wanting a natural looking boost and flush to their lips. The results may not be dramatic after just two sessions but it’s a great option for those that don’t want the hassle of waiting around for a numbing cream or have a low pain threshold. And of course, there is always the option of extra sessions if you’re wanting further enhancement.

If you don’t put in the time you won’t see the results but if you are willing to spend just 3 minutes daily wearing the device while doing your everyday tasks ( I like to wear mine while drying my hair or getting dressed) the results will pay off.
