The Maternity Activewear You Need To Know About

If you’ve ever tried exercising during pregnancy you will know that the challenge to find comfortable and stylish, well fitting activewear is very real.

Tops ride up, over-bump leggings are far too hot and under-bump leggings fall down at any significant movement (so basically all the time!).

During my first pregnancy I resorted to a pair of non ‘activewear’ over-the-bump leggings, deciding it’s probably better to be on the warmer side than run the risk of indecent exposure. This pregnancy at just 5 months in, I’d officially had enough of ill-fitting leggings interrupting my workouts and took action.

I put a call out over social media asking every one and anyone to drop me a line with any maternity activewear recommendations. As you can probably imagine with the lack of maternity activewear on offer, feedback wasn’t great and I struggled to find anything that really appealed. That was until Running Bump dropped me a line.

After discovering that active pregnant women simply aren't sufficiently catered for, friends Cressida and Fleur joined forces to create Running Bump. Believing there’s no reason why pregnant women should compromise, Running Bump specialise in luxury maternity activewear that packs in technical features with clean, pared back design that not only flatter but also sculpt and support.

Sourcing the very best in technical fabrics from Italy and France, packed with the latest innovations, each garment has been tested to the limit by Personal Trainers to ensure functionality is maximised while creating a smooth, sculpted and elongated silhouette.

Sound amazing don’t they but do they live up to the hype? After wearing my Running Bump leggings on what seems like a daily basis for the last 5 weeks (don’t worry I do wash them) I can officially say they do. Lightweight, sweat resistant and stylish, what really makes them stand out from the rest is the unique waistband.

Two years in the making, the waist band sits high at the back to insure no issues of self exposure, while sitting low at the front meaning it won't dig into, constrict or overheat your bump. With a soft cotton and lycra front panel designed to grow with your bump, these brilliant leggings provide comfort and support, and most importantly don’t fall down!

Starting at £65 for a pair of capri's  and going up to £90 for their 'All Square' leggings, they may seem pricey for maternity wear but they wash brilliantly and dry in minutes so you can easily get away with just one pair. As the saying goes 'you get what you pay for' and I for one think they are well worth the investment.
